EJMS Testimonials
Our children Morwenna and Blake have both been attending EJMS for about five years, and we feel really lucky to have EJMS on our doorstep. It’s so much more than just a music lesson – the ensembles, choir, musicianship and concerts provide a rounded experience that has grown our kids confidence and musical ability way beyond what they could get from private music lesson alone. The support given for the music exams, with the accompaniment and aural practice, and the advice given at the performance platform, means both children have always been well prepared and consequently been successful in all of the exams they have taken so far. EJMS provides the environment that allows our kids to achieve their musical potential.
The commitment and enthusiasm of the staff is obvious for all to see. I’d encourage anyone who wants their kids not just to learn a musical instrument, but to also to have experiences that will lead to a lifelong enjoyment of music, to sign them up to EJMS as soon as they can!”
And I mean it all too!

Both our children played their first notes on their respective instruments at EJMS and loved every minute of their Saturday mornings over many years. The older one really took off musically and went on to NYO, Junior Royal Academy and offers at conservatoires, whereas for the younger one it was more of a social thing, with a wide range of musical interests and friendships. That’s the beauty and generosity of what EJMS offers: it supports and encourages kids at all levels of ability and interest, with a friendly caring ethos across all age groups.

My daughter has a fabulous time at EJMS; she’s been attending for many years and has amassed a group of music friends who take part in all sorts of ensembles. Mainly she just has great fun but she’s also learnt a host of musical skills as well as leadership, listening, working with others and taking responsibility for your role in a group endeavour. The teachers’ passion for music is continually in evidence and is catching! The parents’ choir is great fun too!

My son started at EJMS aged eight, and left when he was 18! Not only did he become a very competent trumpeter, but his confidence and his love of music in general blossomed. Over the years this has opened – and continues to open – so many doors to him, both musical and social. EJMS has been a very important and positive part of his life.

My daughter truly enjoys her Saturdays at EJMS. We are so grateful to have access to such amazing facilities. She has grown abundantly in confidence, ability and made good friends along the way. Her teachers are always supportive and motivating with lessons progressing at her individual pace. It is always a pleasure to hear the children perform. EJMS is one big musical family.

Eva and I so enjoy our Saturday mornings immersed in the EJMS community. Although Eva has her instrumental lessons at school, she so enjoys the opportunities on offer to play and sing in the ensembles at EJMS and these in turn have hugely benefited her in terms of her overall musicianship and confidence. The leaders of all the ensembles she has been involved in have been dedicated, energetic and supportive, and most importantly make it fun! In addition, I have also had the unexpected pleasure of being able to involve myself in the Adult Chorale, which is just the right mix of challenging and fun and is real food for the soul.

EJMS is the highlight of my son’s week. He loves coming and I have been so impressed by the passion and enthusiasm of everyone involved. EJMS provides everything you could want – excellent teaching in a fun environment with lots of ensembles and orchestras to join at all levels. Students are fully prepared for all aspects of their exams including aural training, theory and weekly practice sessions with an accompanist. You couldn’t ask for anything more!

EJMS is a fantastic music school. Natacha has developed tremendously musically thanks to the excellent and tailored individual lessons and all the ensemble and orchestra opportunities that allow a very rounded and nurturing musical development. She loves coming to EJMS and has made great friends.

My twin eight year old boys, Arthur and Finbarr, have been attending the Children’s choir for two years now. They thoroughly enjoy it. Felix is an amazing teacher, able to captivate and inspire even the most reluctant of singers. She is clever in her selection of music. How lovely to hear my boys singing some of the old time favourites, Oliver, Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang… their confidence, performance skills and even vocabulary has improved!

When I was 4 years old I started at EJMS in the Kindermusik Class. I began learning cello at five and reached my diploma exam just after turning 15. EJMS gave me the opportunity to play in a wide range of ensembles including string quartets, the cello ensemble, senior strings and the symphony orchestra. I especially enjoyed getting involved in chamber music which I had not had the chance to experience at my junior school. The weekly platform performance opportunities are a great way to get build your performance experience and confidence, as well as getting valuable feedback on your playing, especially as you approach exams or concerts.

I started violin lessons at EJMS when I was in Year 1. I am now in Year 12 and have just taken my diploma on the violin (and on the piano). EJMS gave me the opportunity to sing and play in a whole range of ensembles. I must have performed at least a dozen times each year, which gave me the confidence to perform elsewhere, including leading Ealing Youth Orchestra. I don’t plan to study music at university but I know that I will always have playing music as a way of relaxing, trying different things and meeting new friends.

EJMS is a special place. Not only because of the high quality of the musical tuition and extensive playing and singing experience in different ensembles, but also because of the community and friendship you’ll find there. Music is so important for every part of our lives and EJMS proves this. We love it!

We started at EJMS so that my son, who loves singing, could take part in a good children’s choir. We have not been disappointed! Their termly concerts are very impressive – the children are taught how to give a high-quality performance and clearly enjoy it. He now has a huge repertoire of songs, from musicals such as ‘The Sound of Music’ and ‘Matilda’, to entertain us with at home!
Having had such a positive experience at EJMS, we transferred my daughter’s descant recorder lessons over, drawn by the opportunity she would have to play in a recorder ensemble (unfortunately very hard to find elsewhere). She recently took her Grade 5 exam and I was very impressed by the exam preparation the students are offered in the term of their exam – aural lessons and incredibly helpful practice sessions with an accompanist. Thank you EJMS – the musical experience you offer children is second to none!
